Derek Oskutis

Derek Oskutis competed in his first triathlon as a freshman in high school. While in high school, Derek was a three-time state Swimming champion and a state level cross country runner. After graduating from high school, Derek attended the United States Naval Academy where he studied Systems Engineering. It was at the Academy that Derek began to quickly rise through the triathlon ranks placing at some of the highest levels of competition in the country.

As an amateur during his freshman year, he won the World Collegiate Military Aquathon Championships, achieved USAT All-American status as the #1 ranked triathlete in his age group, and was selected as Triathlete Magazine's Triathlete of the month in May of 2007. During his sophomore year, Derek rose to the professional ranks where he lead the United States Naval Academy Triathlon Team to two national championship titles. He recently placed 10th at the 2009 Elite National Championships, won the 2009 U.S. Armed Forces National Championship, and was selected to multiple USAT Elite and U23 Worlds Teams. He hopes to earn a spot on the 2016 Olympic Development Team during the 2010 season.

"As an ITU athlete, I can not stress the importance of quick transitions in a race that is often decided by seconds. That is why over my entire career as a triathlete, both professionally and as an amateur, I have relied on Yankz!. I can always have confidence that I will be running out of T2 in first and my shoes will stay secured to my feet throughout my 10k. Not to mention the fact that they come in any imaginable color to match any shoe. Always a plus!"

"My T2 bag always tags along with me to all my races and workouts. After over a year of using it, it is still holding up great and is just the right size to fit all the gear I need." - Derek Oskutis
